Oh, sunshine day!

I have to say that this past weekend was probably the most relaxing we've had in a really long time.  It was weird not having to be anywhere or have Steven work on mounds of homework.  Nicely weird.  Or weird in a really nice way.  To top of the amazingness of being able to relax, the sun was shining in all it's glory!  Lovely.  Saturday I spent time outside filling the pots in the front with flowers and sprucing up the garden in general.  My irises are blooming!!  Which is super exciting because last year they didn't even attempt to bloom.  Sunday was lazy and warm.  And even though we just got Netflix on the Wii and it was enticing us to stay indoors, we ventured out.  It was the perfect sunshine day for a first swim in the river (for Nala and Coco, not us).

Nala told me her hero is Michael Phelps.  Isn't she the cutest retriever???

Lazy river.

Rooting for rocks.  Coco doesn't swim (must be the non-lab part of her heritage), but she loves to chase around rocks that Steven throws in the river (see picture below).  In fact, I think she ate a couple.  Go figure - she eats everything!

Nala running off into the sunset.

In an effort to keep Coco from running away, we tie her up on the long nylon rope and attach it to Steven.  I thought Steven might get the worst of it.  Nope.  Instead, she clothes-lined me on my ankle while I wasn't looking and gave me quite the rope burn.  Thanks, Coco!

We are ready for the dog days of summer!
