Last night we were at the orientation for the internships, you know, doing our thing and being on top of it. Organizing people and such. Well, I guess no place is sacred, because while we were there (at Liberty Christian School) our car got broken into. Yup, poor Subaru had her front passenger window knocked out and our GPS and a case of CDs were taken. The GPS wasn't really worth much, we got a great deal on it, but it's a few years old and tends to lead us astray. And the CDs were mostly burned copies of Christian music with some other random CDs mixed in (like Garth Brooks, Enrique Iglesias & Las Ketchup - holla' at Las Mayonnaise! Ah, college!). However, it's not the stuff that got stolen that gets me, it's the fact that someone broke into our car. It feels violating. Scandalous. Way too personal. And the hassle of getting the car fixed isn't fun either. I went and got an estimate today - $1100. Wowza! Good thing we have insurance (and a $250 deductible). Needless to say, I didn't sleep well last night. I kept hearing things and felt totally unnerved. At one point the wind set off our motion sensor light on the back porch. Yes, I did wake my husband up to go check it out. And he confirmed that it was indeed the wind. Tomorrow we will get a replacement window so the Subaru is "drivable", however the damage caused by the screwdriver to bust it isn't getting fixed until the end of August. But that's OK. And God is good & He has so far provided all our needs. And protected us. Some lessons learned? Never leave stuff visible. I won't ever be leaving my purse in the car again. Don't put your home address in your GPS (No, they didn't come and try to break in and we didn't have a garage door opener in the car - but do you really want some punk kid who is brazen enough to bust into your car in daylight to have your home address?). And having obscure CDs, like Las Ketchup, in your CD case is good in case it gets stolen. Like the Officer said, how many people have THAT CD? So if you see it for sale on Craigslist along with Shakira you know who to call. Bring 'em home, Las Ketchup, bring 'em home... ;-)

That's awful! Chris' car got broken into when we lived at BellaVista and they broke the driver's side window.
Chris put an intersection near our house into our GPS for that exact reason. Praying for you to feel peace again - especially at night.
