God's Provision (aka The Incredibly Nice Guy)

Yesterday a really cool thing happened.  It started out as not-so-cool on Sunday night when Steven couldn't sleep and felt overwhelmed.  We have so much going on in our lives right now, it's hard to keep our heads above water.  Let's just say we're trusting God to lead us back towards a healthy place (don't worry - we figured it out before it got out of hand).  Our marraige thrives off good quality one-on-one time with each other and we haven't been getting a lot of that lately.  So, last night Steven was feeling overwhelmed and I can totally relate.  His plate is a lot fuller than mine and there is always something that needs to be done.  He decided not to set an alarm and just go into work late or maybe not go at all.  So I got up Monday morning at my normal time and went to work as usual.

Steven decided he was going to go into work after all and went out to start his car at 9:30...and it wouldn't start.  He called me and I asked if I needed to come home.  He found some construction guys working next door and asked for a jump and told me he'd call back.  Turns out one of the construction workers went to school to be a mechanic!  And it wasn't that the battery was dead in the car - it was the starter.  This incredibly nice man helped Steven take out the starter, drove him to the store to buy a new one and then came home with Steven and replaced it for him!  Steven didn't have the right tools for the job and it would've taken him three times as long to take out and replace it.  The incredibly nice guy was so nice and he didn't want any payment.  How amazing is that?  God totally provided and we didn't have to have the car towed to the shop!  And I didn't have to come home from work to take Steven to buy a new starter.  The best part though, is that Steven was home and not at work when that happened.  It would have been a lot more frustrating had he been out at the site and had to have it towed back to town.  The Jetta lives on!

After he helped Steven with the Jetta, Steven learned that the incredibly nice guy owns his own business installing hardwood floors.  Well, guess what?  We have about 12 boxes of flooring in our garage that we will install when "we get to it."  Steven got a quote (which was really reasonable) and we are seriously considering hiring this guy.  He has to be good if he is willing to take 3 hours out of his day to help a stranger with their car, right?  Plus, if you add in the money this guy saved us by not having to take the car to a shop it's a steal.  What a blessing!  So, hopefully we will have the kitchen done soon - just one more thing hanging over our heads.  God is good all the time!  And we are thankful for His provisions everyday.
