Almost there

I don't think I've really blogged about this before...if I did remind me because then I'm also suffering memory loss.  I joined Weight Watchers back in October after fighting with my jeans for six months because I refused to go and buy a bigger size.  That is not fun shopping.  It went well at first and the first few months it was good progress.  Then I hit a plateau from January through March.  Lose 2 pounds one week, gain 2.3 back the next.  Lose 1.3 pounds, gain 1 pound back the next.  Repeat.  Seriously it was a long plateau.

At one point in February I gained 4 pounds!!  I remember my leader looking at me and saying in her not-so-nice-voice (and she's really nice), "I hope you fix this."  Yikes!  Well, I did.  I fixed it plus some.  I was able to jump the hurdle and this week when I went in I finally made it down the slope!  Expecting to have gained weight or lost .2 lbs again *sigh*, I saw -3.0 on the scale!  Say what?  Did I do that?!  And guess what?  That put me at my 10% weight loss goal!  Whoo-hoo!  I mean, this is exciting stuff.

So now I'm hoping to keep up this progress.  No more plateaus.  No more excuses.  My next goal?  To run a 5K.  Now I'm sure many of you are like, "Seriously, a 5K? That's so easy!  I run a 5K everyday." (Ok, maybe not everyday, but you get the point, right?).  But the deal is that I hate running.  With all of my soul (or soles - both work).  Loathe it.  Not motivated.  See?  For me it's hard.  In high school I had to run because I played soccer & basketball.  But that was for the team.  Here it's for me.  And on my own time - which is very limited during the week.  Not being a morning person, it's a rare occasion when I get home from work & have time to run before I have to start dinner or be somewhere else.  I don't have a goal date in mind and I don't think I could handle the pressure of having a goal date.  Would probably make me quit to be honest.  But I have a new goal and here's to goals!  And no more plateaus!

And now when I have to go shopping it's not to buy bigger pants, but smaller ones.  In fact, I've went down two pant sizes & am due for another round of shopping.  Success at it's finest!  What are some of your goals?  Are you a runner?  Maybe I will post more about my running progress.  Eww, just typing that made me nervous & queasy.  Maybe I won't.  But I would love to hear about yours.

Wow Jess, that's awesome! You must feel very accomplished. I'm impressed by your 5k goal- that would be a struggle for me too. I'm also glad you had the confidence to post about this online- it's not easy. Here's to more new jeans!!

There is a 5K run in Seattle on June 18th that my husband and I are doing, but it's not just straight up running. It's called the Survivor Mud Run and it's got a bunch of intense obstacles throughout the course. You end up getting covered from head to toe in mud. We think it looks like a lot of fun, but it looks pretty hard too. Check it out: http://www.survivormudrun.com/
