Lobster Surgery

I mentioned on Facebook a few weeks ago that we had to "clip" our lobster's claws to keep him from destroying our fish.  Each morning we woke up after adding him to our tank, we would find another fin ripped or partially missing.  After some online research, Steven found a way to clip the claw so it doesn't hurt the lobster and won't grow back completely so as to keep creating problems (if a lobster loses their whole arm, the entire claw grows back full size).  Here is a photo documentary of the process!  Enjoy!

Pre-surgery.  Notice how he has both claws with pincers intact.

Steven informing the lobster of his pending doom.

When I took this picture, the flash scared Steven which made the lobster jump and thus created the cool effect of the water...Steven was just a little mad at me for that one!

No turning back now...

Clipping Claw #2

The aftermath.  Pretty small little pincer!  (Note: Steven clipped the "thumb" part of the pincer that moves, not the whole thing!)
