Three down

Well, we have experienced our first causaulties in the fish tank.  The weekend Spring Break started we went to PetCo (where the pets go!) and got three marigold wag swordtails.  Really cool, beautiful creatures.  The male had a long sword on his tail (thus the name), and was rightly dubbed "Zorro." The two females complimented him and were very lovely zipping back and forth along the tank.  Fast forward almost a week later and we started noticing white spots on the three swordtails.  To make a long story very short, turns out to be Ich (common aquarium disesase).  We treat for Ich, one female swordtail starts to show signs of aggression and attacks the other two.  Last night (five days after starting treament) the non-aggressive swordtail died.  Male not looking good and the sword part of his fin falls off.  Today come home to dead male swordtail with what looks to be a brain explosion.  Steven called Aqua Tropics the real pet store (a local one we should always buy fish at and will from now on) for advice.  The helpful clerk told us she could be pregnant or crazy and we should probably just get rid of her.  Not five minutes ago we flushed her down the toliet.  She lasted about 30 seconds in the cold toliet water before she stopped moving.  We had them total of eleven days.  So now the quest is on to find new, more compatible fish.  Poor little swordtails!  Except that one, she was mean.
