Well we braved the 11 1/2 hour flight to Seoul and are now waiting to catch our connecting flight to Shanghai. The last four hours were killer, not to mention we lost a whole day. I hate it when that happens! I (Jess) couldn't sleep at all - I think I was in and out for about and hour or so. Steven somewhat slept for about two hours. Needless to say we're tired but not bad for it being 3am back home. In flight movie selection was awesome. I got in four movies. Yes, four. Despicable Me, Shrek Forever After, the Prince of Persia and Jonah Hex. Our of the four, Prince of Persia and Despicable Me were surprisingly good.
And the toilets in Asia are always fun. Airports in Korea don't sport the same bells and whistles in their restrooms as the Tokyo airport, but it still had the "etiquette music" for...well...you know. In case you don't want others "listening in." Did I have to write that? Anyways, I was able to use for the first time a toilet that had two seats - one normal and a second that you could flip down for a child. It resembled more of a potty training chair. Interesting. Why are things like this only in Asia?
Anyway, I'm glad the airport has free wi-fi and only another hour and we get on our last leg for our final destination. I'm excited for yummy breakfast street food (even though it always make me sick). Stay tuned!
**Amazing trip experience #1 - added 15 minutes after the above** - After posting the above and checking email, I needed to refill my water bottle (I had to empty it to go through "transfer customs" in the airport). Steven and I found a drinking fountain and I was filling up my water bottle and two older Chinese women came over and were staring and chatting and talking really fast. I thought they were annoyed with how long I was taking. After I was done (and they watched me the whole time), they got excited, started talking even faster and ran over to the custodian's cart and DUG THROUGH HIS RECYCLING and found two used water bottles for themselves and proceeded to refill them! I had inspired them! However, I would not recommend using someone else's used water bottle - even if you are trying to be environmentally friendly.
