We made it. Our last flight went well and last night we stayed in the big city. This morning we trained out here to where we will be this week. It's way smoggy. Way more than I remember. The weather is great though and I have been in short sleeves all day! No need for a jacket yet. Good thing I packed all those sweaters.
Today we went to lunch and ordered all our favorites - egg and tomato (for you Laura!), tie ban niu rou, spicy green beans and gong bao ji ding. I think every first meal in China consists of at least two of those dishes. Yum. Last night we stayed at the Holiday Inn by the train station. The breakfast this morning was amazing - the best breakfast I have ever had in China! They had french toast, pancakes, omelets and amazing fresh fruit. And of course bao zi. They had vegetable bao (my favorite) and bean curd bao (no one's favorite). I heard that the hotel we checked into today also has amazing breakfasts. I know Steven will be out looking for street food - but I have to say that I'm glad there will be fresh fruit and coffee awaiting me in the morning. :-)
I was going to upload a picture or two of the university we just went walking through, but we forgot our mini SD card reader for our point and shoot! Sad! So, no pictures. I will have to be better about taking pictures on our DSLR since I know we have the card reader for that. Right now we are chillin' in our hotel room with our friend Vincent (he's here all week to see us - how awesome!) and then tonight we have a group dinner, orientation and going on a bus tour later this evening. Pray for stamina! It's 4:30pm and we're starting to really feel the jet lag.
